Pelvic Muscle Exerciser
Pelvic muscle exercises help improve the muscle tone of the pelvic floor muscles. These muscles support the bladder, uterus and large intestine (bowel). Life events such as menopause, pregnancy or childbirth can weaken or damage these muscles and tissues. This can lead to many problems including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction. This is why it is so important for women to do Kegel exercises with a pelvic muscle exerciser.
Urinary Incontinence Types
Urinary incontinence has many types including and not limited to:
- Overactive bladder
Some women may experience more than one of these types, this is known as mixed incontinence.
Ultimately, your first line of defense against UI is pelvic floor muscle training with a pelvic muscle exerciser from PeriCoach. An assistive Kegel device can help you as you exercise these important muscles. This insertable device features three sensors that detect the contractions of the pelvic floor muscles and send progress reports to your smartphone via BlueTooth with the use of the PeriCoach Kegel app.
About Kegel Exercises
You can do Kegels in any position. Lying down is the most recommended as it puts the least amount of pressure on the pelvic floor itself. Apply some lubricant to your pelvic floor muscle exerciser and place it internally. For beginner not using a device, insert one or two clean fingers inside to feel the muscles contract. Next, tighten your pelvic floor muscles while holding this contraction for five seconds. Release and relax for five seconds. Repeat five to ten times for your initial session. Aim for three sets of 10 repetitions daily. It’s important to understand that the relaxation phase of the exercises is just as important as the contractions. Over time, the exercises will increase in volume, contraction period and repetitions. Start off slow.
